This project was initially created by a concerned citizen to hold both Victoria Gold and the Yukon Government accountable for their inadequate urgency and response to the major heap leach pad failure in June 2024. It also aimed to spotlight various instances where Victoria Gold failed to meet its responsibilities in managing a hard rock mine of this scale, and in handling the potential risks associated with such mining operations, particularly the harm that could result from a catastrophic event.
